Why Do You Still Have Cable When Satellite Gives You More Choice, Greater Selection And More For Your Money?

Get More Choice. Get More Selection. Get More For Your Money.

As of January 2005, there were over 24 million satellite TV subscribers in the U.S. Besides homeowners, businesses, airlines, airports and even the U.S. Congress have discovered that satellite TV offers a low-cost, reliable means of getting the wide variety of programming they want.

Satellite TV offers unbeatable value, a great selection of channels, little-to-no start-up cost, and freedom from the cable company. What more could you ask for? Click here to compare Satellite vs Cable

Satellite TV Providers

There are presently two major players providing small dish Satellite TV systems: DirecTV  and Dish Network. You'll have to select one system or the other, the two systems are incompatible. Dish Network manufactures and sells their own satellite receivers, hardware suitable for use with Direct TV systems is available from several manufacturers. Both systems offer HTDV programming but, like an HDTV television set, an enhanced dish or receiver may be needed.

Direct TV also offers DIRECWAY High-Speed Satellite Internet, while Dish Network has teamed up with EarthLink to offer new high-speed Internet solutions that's available to everyone in the continental United States with a clear view of the southern sky. Special Interest

Whatever you're into, you'll find it on satellite TV. For you Globetrotters tune in to the Travel Channel and the National Geographic Channel; stay current with news from CSPAN, CNN, and the BBC, and you science buffs can watch NASA TV, Science TV and multiple Discovery Channels. There's always something for everyone on satellite TV.

International Channels

For emigrees, students and others, satellite TV is a great way to receive foreign-language programming. However, if you want to receive foreign programming, you will need to purchase a separate satellite dish, which must be aimed at different satellite than your regular dish.

Local Channels

New satellite TV customers may be surprised to learn that local channels are not always available through their satellite system. Local channel availability via satellite is restricted to certain metropolitan areas, though new local markets are continually being added. If you are eligible to receive local channels, they will cost approximately $5 per month.

Cost and Customer Service

Cable customers around the country are subject to constant rate hikes and poor customer service. Two or three cable companies have a virtual monopoly on the market and seem oblivious to widespread dissatisfaction with their product, pricing, and support. With taxes, monthly subscription fees, and equipment rental charges, cable subscribers are consistently paying far too much for the quality of the service they receive.

Most Satellite TV retailers offer free installation and you can start enjoying satellite TV for as low as $24.99 a month! AND the satellite dish and receiver are yours to keep, so you won't need to pay a monthly rental charge or worry about returning the equipment if you move.

A study conducted by the respected research firm JD Power and Associates compared customer satisfaction with satellite TV providers and all the major cable companies. The satellite TV providers received the highest possible scores in almost every category, including reliability, cost, and customer service. In contrast, the major cable companies' scores were not even close.

Picture Quality

Satellite TV delivers 100% digital audio and video. Despite the vast distance the signal must travel before it reaches your television, the end result is still crystal clear and equal to any digital cable picture! As long as you have an unobstructed view of the southern sky, the only threat to the quality of your signal is very heavy rain or snow, which can occasionally interfere with reception. If you live in an area with frequent severe weather, you can always get a slightly larger dish to offset the interference.
